New Collage:Mush, the Sophisticat in Ink and Paper

This week, I ventured outside my comfort zone—away from pure abstraction and into the feline realm. Meet my latest piece: a mixed-media collage of Mush, my muse, my shadow, and the ever-sophisticated queen of the studio.

The work blends torn paper and ink, a slightly chaotic experiment where control meets curiosity (just like Mush herself). As someone who doesn't usually paint "things"—especially not cats—it was challenging to capture her essence without falling into the trap of trying to be literal.

It's not perfect. It’s not meant to be. But it feels alive in its own scrappy, textural way. A little raw, a little elegant—very Mush.

Let me know what you see in it. I’m learning to let go of precision and trust that presence can come through, even in a ripped edge or a brushstroke that didn’t behave.
